Before accepting or signing any proposed Consulting Agreement, every Staff Member shall disclose it to the office of Corporate Sponsored Research and Licensing (CSRL) for review and approval. All agreements as well as the Consulting Questionnaire shall be submitted to the Agreement Adminstrator, CSRL. In cases where substantial compensation or unusual circumstances are involved, CSRL my seek review and approval by the Staff Member's supervisor or Chief of Service.
Staff Members need to understand that Institutional review of their Consulting Agreements is not being done on behalf of the Staff Members and does not substitute for review by Staff Members private counsel. Institutional review of Consulting Agreements is for the sole purpose of ensuring that the agreements conform with Institutional policies; while Institutional attorneys may be involved in reviewing the agreement, they are not acting as the Staff Members attorney. Staff Members are encouraged to seek their own legal counsel to advise them of their rights and obligation, of personal tax implications and of any conflicts between a proposed agreement and other Consulting Agreements they may have. Please review the Consulting Policy for more specific information and institutional requirements.
